Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) students continued to demonstrate strong academic performance on the 2025-2026 Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) assessments, outperforming the state on every reading, writing, science and history assessment, and on all mathematics assessments except Grade 7 Math.

The Virginia Beach School Board received information about proposed federal grant applications at its May 12 meeting. For the 2026-27 school year, Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) would receive approximately $18.9 million in formula grant funds through programs authorized under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA).

Student Supplies

The teachers at Kempsville Meadows have prepared the following list of supplies needed by students at each grade level. This list is provided for your convenience should you desire to purchase supplies prior to the opening of school. Additional supplies may be requested by individual teachers when we return to school. All erasable markers should be unscented / odorless / “low odor,” please.
